REHABILITATION

The Leprosy and the Buruli Ulcer consequences are described as a complex human problem, which leads to discrimination, stigma and prejudice. The equal rights for people affected by leprosy to develop their full potentials, is a matter of human rights. This has led to poor quality of life for many leprosy- affected people.

Our support and rehabilitation programs for leprosy, orphans and blind children, provide home for the needy, with vocational training for those children of destitute families. Arranging adoption services for orphan children are also part of the activities that are being under taken by Africa Care Watch. Children whose health is chronically affected and malnourished benefit Our strategy on Social rehabilitation is focusing on vulnerable children issues
by promoting the integral human development, networking with local and international charitable organizations, and individuals, on social rehabilitation policy and legislative issues that affect the rights of children and other socially marginalized groups.
The focal areas of ACW social rehabilitation strategy focusing on those vulnerable children and their families:

· To ensure that ACW social development and pastoral projects/programs are designed to address the issues of social rehabilitation; orphan, and children victims of leprosy, buruli ulcer and socially excluded or marginalized groups.

· The ACW social rehabilitation strategy is expected to bring significant changes in the social life of the orphan, and children victims of leprosy, buruli ulcer and the excluded groups of the society.

The leprosy-affected have not been empowered by community and health providers who lack the right attitude and sensitivity. Greater coordination is required at all levels to utilize resources and allow the full development of people affected with leprosy.
The need to strengthen action to combat the social, economic and psychological consequences of the disease, not only for the individual but also for their families and communities is fundamental. The different prevention programs of disabilities, physical, psychological and socio-economic rehabilitation activities in leprosy control, the Community-Based Rehabilitation , and the mainstreaming and networking of rehabilitation services are fundamental for the success of the victims of Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer reinsertion in the society
